Fabulous Vacations On A Budget

As soon as you receive your bankruptcy discharge, you’ll experience a huge sense of relief. You won’t have to worry about unpaid credit card bills piling up or debt collectors calling you at all hours. You’ll have the opportunity to build a more secure financial future for yourself and your family. Even though your post-bankruptcy life will be far more financially flexible than when you were drowning in debt, you’ll still need to be cautious to avoid getting back into debt. Consider these budget-friendly vacation ideas for your next get-away.

Be a local tourist.

So many people live and work in towns that attract hordes of tourists, yet they never take advantage of the local attractions themselves. This may be due in part to a “grass is greener on the other side of the fence” mindset. Take a look around your hometown or nearby towns. Which attractions does your local Chamber of Commerce promote? Plan an itinerary, just as if you were traveling to a faraway destination.

Take a camping trip.

It may sound counterintuitive, but camping isn’t always budget-friendly. Yes, you’ll save money on hotel costs. But if you lack a tent and other camping gear, then purchasing all that equipment can get expensive. Instead, borrow camping gear from a friend. If none of your friends have camping gear, consider pooling your money to purchase it with your friends. Just make sure you’re all in agreement regarding how to share the gear equally.

Take a low-cost cruise.

If camping isn’t your cup of tea, and you really want to get out of your own town for a while, you may be able to find amazing discounts on cruises. The trick is to either book your cruise a year or longer in advance, or to book it at the last minute. If you book at the last minute, you may also get some extra incentives thrown in, like cash vouchers. Just be careful to stick to a budget while you’re onboard and during the onshore excursions.
